Borthwick look to the uncapped to strenghten England squad

NEWS: Seven uncapped players have been named in England head coach Steve Borthwick’s training squad for the Test matches coming up against Japan and New Zealand.

Borthwick invited two uncapped backs namely Gloucester’s Charlie Atkinson and Harlequins’ Luke Northmore.

The five uncapped forwards are Bristol’s Gabriel Oghre, Harlequins’ Fin Baxter, Exeter duo Greg Fisilau and Rusi Tuima, and Newcastle’s Guy Pepper.

Dan Cole and Joe Marler will only join up during the next camp on June 4 while Ollie Chessum and Ellis Genge are both unavailable due to injury.

Players from Northampton, Bath, Sale, and Saracens will be added to the squad once the Premiership play-offs are over.

The upcoming England tests are scheduled for June 11 (Japan) and July 13 (New Zealand).

These Test Matches will be England’s first fixtures back following their third-place finish in the Six Nations
