The fixture, which will take place on the weekend of November 23, follows three home Tests for England against New Zealand, Australia and world champions South Africa.

Japan, coached by former England boss Eddie Jones, will be playing their first match at Twickenham in just over two years since they endured a 13-52 defeat.

The teams last met at the World Cup in France in October, with England’s 34-12 bonus-point win in Nice helping Steve Borthwick’s men qualify out of Pool D on their way to finishing third in the showpiece tournament.

England begin their Six Nations campaign away to Italy in Rome on February 3.

Precise dates and kick-off times for the November internationals will be confirmed in due course.
