All Black set to miss semifinal against England

INJURY UPDATE: The All Blacks will be without one of their players for their World Cup semifinal against England next weekend.

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen confirmed that flank Matt Todd reinjured his shoulder towards the end of his team’s impressive 46-14 quarterfinal win over Ireland on Saturday.

Todd’s stay was short-lived after he was yellow-carded after conceding a penalty try.

“Matt Todd has hurt that shoulder again, so we’ll have to see how he goes,” said Hansen in Tokyo on Sunday. “It’s probably unlikely he’s going to be available.”

Hansen added: “He dislocated it a wee while ago but got a bang on it yesterday [Saturday], so we’ll have to wait and see.”

Todd’s injury will force New Zealand to reshuffle their bench as the Crusaders openside star provided cover.

Meanwhile, Hansen confirmed that Sam Cane is fit to face England and described the star’s substitution at half-time as tactical rather than an injury-enforced change.
