Brits blow for Boks

Hooker Schalk Brits sustained a knee ligament injury playing for Saracens in their European Champions Cup game at home to Clermont Auvergne on Saturday.

 

Saracens Head of Medicine Joe Collins; “Schalk is due to have surgery tomorrow and will then commence rehabilitation with the club’s medical staff.” 

 

Brits is not expected to return well into the New Year and as such will miss the Springboks November Test Series in the Northern Hemisphere.

 

The Saracens hooker recently returned to the Bok fold when he was included in the squad for the June Test window – his last cap for the national team was in 2012.

 

Brits made two appearances against Wales, in Nelspruit and Durban and was included in the Rugby Championship squad for the recently completed tournament, however he did not feature in any match-day team.
