England's woes are self-imposed

Hamilton shares his opinion from the 26th minute!

The former lock, who now lends his voice to The Rugby Pod, believes Eddie Jones' player management could be the at the centre of their current issues. However, despite numerous injuries to key players, England has still managed to pick up some victories in this Six Nations campaign.

"England's [positive] results have probably papered over a few of the cracks. Up to that Scotland game, they had only lost one game under Eddie Jones and that was against Ireland in the last Championship, now they have lost three [in total].

"England has not played that well since the last Six Nations [tournament] when they put 50/60 points on Scotland. But they have had good enough players to be able to get through that.

"I think, watching England, there are a few things that stick out. Their back row is not up to speed, Billy Vunipola is injured and he has been a key man for them over the last few seasons, the Farrell-Ford axis hasn't really worked – people are questioning Ford and rightly so.

"There are question marks over Dylan Hartley, I know he didn't play against France but has he got the quality and the leadership skills that England need?

"What England has shown is that they are still a really good team and they have still been able to win when they haven't been playing well but I think what it shows is potentially the management around the players.

"After the Lions tour, there is a hangover and the way that Eddie Jones trains these guys, the rumours coming out the camp, the injuries that the players are picking up in training and the demands on their body from the training, from playing in the Champions Cup, to play in the Premiership – the list is endless to the excuses that can be had.

"They need to make some big changes if they are to win the World Cup, which is ultimately what Eddie Jones has set out to do," Hamilton said.
