Europe's best unveiled

Fifteen players have been shortlisted for the Six Nations Player of the Championship.

As can be expected champions Wales have the most nominations, with four.

They are followed by Italy and France on three each, England and Ireland (two each), with Scotland bringing up the rear with just one.

According to match statistics and the fans' opinion, these were the best performing players.

Six Nations Player of the Championship shortlist:

MIKE PHILLIPS (Wales): Made more passes than any other player (279):

OWEN FARRELL (England): Was the most talked about player across social media

LEIGH HALFPENNY (Wales): Scored more points than any other player (74):

CHRIS ROBSHAW (England): Played every minute of the Championship and made 64 tackles

SERGIO PARISSE (Italy): Carried the ball for 250 metres

NICOLAS MAS (France): Won 90% of own scrums

LOUIS PICAMOLES (France): Carried the ball 70 times

ANDREA MASI (Italy): Collected the ball 26 times

DAN BIGGAR (Wales): Made 97% of passes and kicked 1 of only 3 drop goals in the Championship

STUART HOGG (Scotland): Made 336 metres with ball in hand

ALESSANDRO ZANNI (Italy): Made 49 carries and 34 tackles

CONOR MURRAY (Ireland): Completed 262 passes

MATHIEU BASTAREAUD (France): Had a pass completion rate of 100%

BRIAN O'DRISCOLL (Ireland): Was only turned over once in the Championship

ADAM JONES (Wales): Only missed one tackle in the Championship
