Lambie to start at fullback?

Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer doesn't want to tinker too much with his team, although Pat Lambie is almost certain to be included.

The Sharks playmaker came on after half-time in last weekend's victory over England and made a big impact at fullback. With Zane Kirchner ruled out of the second Test through injury it would be hard to imagine Lambie not being given a well-earned start.

"In this team your place is not guaranteed. I think we will again look at England's strong points and weaknesses," Meyer told the media.

"I think Patrick did well when he came on at fullback and chances are good that he will start from that position. We want to keep continuity and we want to get to the point where you establish some momentum and rhythm."

The other injury concern in the camp in prop Coenie Oosthuizen, but the big Cheetahs prop is still in with a chance to feature on Saturday.

The injuries to Kirchner and Oosthuizen prompted call-ups to Gio Aplon and Dean Greyling, who Meyer explained were both unlucky to miss out on the original squad.

"Gio and Dean were two guys who were unlucky not to make the squad, and especially since they have played for SA before," said Meyer.

"As I have said before, I am not a believer in giving chances, people have to take their chances, and I don't want to make playing for SA cheap.

"But they impressed me at the training camps earlier this year and they were on standby to play for the team, so I am happy for them."

Utility back Frans Steyn and prop Jannie du Plessis were both didn't train on Monday as a precautionary measure, but team doctor Craig Roberts expects both players to be up and running in the next couple of days.

"We've got quite a few bumps and bruises after the Test, which are expected," Roberts said. "We had a couple of guys sitting out today [Monday] with just bumps and bruises for training, but that is generally normal on a Monday in order to get the guys ready for Saturday."
