Monster midfield for BaaBaas
TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT: The Barbarians will field one of biggest midfield combinations in the world, when they host Fiji at Twickenham on Saturday.
Gargantuan French centre Mathieu Bastareaud will team up with imposing Springbok Andre Esterhuizen in a formidable midfield.
Ireland’s Rory Best will bring the curtain down on his professional career by captaining a BaaBaas outfit, picked by England’s Eddie Jones.
The 23-man invitational squad includes three Springbok World Cup winners.
Wing Makazole Mapimpi and loosehead prop Tendai Mtawarira will start.
Centre Lukhanyo Am will play off the bench.
Other South Africans in the starting XV include utility back Dillyn Leyds (on the wing), Curwin Bosch at flyhalf and Marco van Staden on the flank.
Scottish-capped South African-born Josh Strauss starts at No.8.
Prop Hencus van Wyk, scrumhalf Jano Vermaak and flyhalf Morné Steyn add to the SA contingent on the bench.
