France star in hot water

DISCIPLINARY NEWS: France centre Jonathan Danty will face a disciplinary hearing on Tuesday after he received a red card during his team’s 13-all draw against Italy on Sunday.

The France star was sent off by referee English referee Christophe Ridley in the 40th minute of the Six Nations Round Three clash for a dangerous tackle  on centre Juan Ignacio Brex,

However, the yellow card was upgraded to red by the bunker review system.

It’s an act of foul play contrary to Law 9.13:

A player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously. Dangerous tackling includes, but is not limited to, tackling or attempting to tackle an opponent above the line of the shoulders even if the tackle starts below the line of the shoulders,

Danty will attend the hearing via video conference before an independent Judicial Committee consisting of Jennifer Donovan – Chairman (Ireland), joined by former internationals Stefan Terblanche (South Africa) and Leon Lloyd (England).

The hearing will take place on Tuesday, February 27.
