Toulon fined for breaking salary cap

Toulon said in a press release they still hadn't been informed about the fine and that they would "contest the allegations and use the necessary means to fight this decision."

The club, who were last season's runner-up in France and who were the 2015 European champions, can still appeal the decision. 

Since being bought by Mourad Boudjellal in 2006 Toulon have risen to the top of the game as the owner took personal charge and invested in a host of big name players such as Sonny Bill Williams, Jonny Wilkinson and Matt Giteau.
