INJURY UPDATE: Clermont’s Nick Abendanon, who has just returned from shoulder surgery that has sidelined him since April, faces another three months away from the game as he undergoes an operation on a cervical hernia.

“He’ll undergo an operation Monday onwards and will be out for three months,” said Clermont coach Franck Azema.

“It’s a long time because he’s just coming back from another operation. He was feeling really good, we couldn’t wait to see him back again.”

The cervical hernia was spotted in a compulsory biannual scan put in place to better safeguard players’ health.

Abendanon, 32, won two caps for England.
