Another midfield blow for France
INJURY REPORT: France have been dealt another midfield blow with the news of Jonathan Danty.
Just days after finding out that Gael Fickou would miss the opening rounds of the Six Nations due to a wrist injury, Fabien Galthie will be without star-centre Danty as well.
The 32-year-old La Rochelle centre has sstaiend a knee injury which is set to sideline him for around two months.
Danty missed the July and November Tests and was aiming to make his way back into Six Nations squad, but an injury halted all the plans.
According to French publication L’Equipe, Danty will have an operation on his meniscus this week and will ultimately miss the Investec Champions Cup clash against Leinster as well.
France start their Six Nations campaign against Wales at home on January 31, before away clashes against England and Italy in February.
If the two-month injury timeline is accurate, Danty could be back in the selection mix when France tackle Ireland in March and their final game of the tournament against Scotland in Paris.
With Danty and Fickou out, Galthie would have to rely on Yoram Moefana and Emilien Gailleton to fill the void for the start of the Six Nations.
