Biarritz looks south after relegation
Relegated French club Biarritz has started to recruit in the Southern Hemisphere in its drive to regain its Top 14 status.
Biarritz signed New Zealand's Bryn Evans and Australian Rod Davies ahead of its entry into the Pro D2 (Second Division) French competition.
Former Hurricanes and Blues lock Evans, 29, has played for three seasons with London Irish, and arrives on a one-year deal at the south western side which is now coached by Ireland's Eddie O'Sullivan.
Evans has two Test caps, when he played for New Zealand against France in 2009.
Fullback Davies, 25, also plays on wing, and will join Biarritz on a two-year deal after finishing the Super Rugby season with Reds.
Nicknamed 'The Rocket' Davies has one Test cap for Australia.
Biarritz were relegated from the elite Top 14 after a horrendous campaign and will play in the second division next season.
Despite a budget of €11.7 million, which will put them among the Pro D2 big hitters, the club is rebuilding following the departure of several top players.
