Bordeaux in Kiwi coup

Versatile New Zealander back Jayden Spence is to join Bordeaux-Begles as cover, the French Top 14 outfit said Sunday.

The 23-year-old, who can play on the wing or in the centres, currently turns out for Otago in the domestic New Zealand league.

The 171cm, 91kg back joins as cover for a Bordeaux side currently missing injured French international wing Sofiane Guitoune.

Bordeaux had been looking for a versatile back to complete their squad.

According to the Sudouest.fr website, they are also in contact with Australian international Adam Ashley-Cooper with the view to joining next season.

The Waratahs back can play in a variety of positions and played right wing for Australia in their 33-28 victory over Wales in Cardiff on Saturday.
