The French flyhalf Ntamack is reportedly out of the World Cup with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

The Toulouse star sustained the injury during France’s 30-27 win over Scotland on Saturday in St Etienne.

The 24-year-old left the field after 55 minutes after a collision with opposite number Finn Russell.

The news has yet to be confirmed by the Les Blues. However, French newspaper L’Equipe reported that Ntamack suffered an ACL injury.

“According to our information, from concordant sources, this Monday’s examinations finally revealed the worst, namely a rupture of the cruciate ligament of the left knee,” L’Equipe revealed.

“If nothing is official yet, this injury automatically leads to a withdrawal from the France team and Stade Toulousain for the World Cup.”

On Saturday during the post-match media briefing, France head coach Fabien Galthié said Ntamack suffered “a small hyperextension of the knee”.

“We preferred to replace him,” said Galthie.

“He was seen by the doctor, the physiotherapists and we will decide on Sunday if there needs to be additional examinations.”
