Covid-19 outbreak hits Top14 leaders Toulouse
NEWS: An outbreak of Covid-19 at Top 14 leaders Toulouse has forced the postponement of their visit to second-placed La Rochelle to a “later date”, the league said on Friday.
The game had been scheduled for Sunday, the closing slot of the weekend’s round of matches.
Toulouse Ugo Mola told a press conference earlier in the day that “two positive cases” had been detected in the club and that a third player was showing “suspicious symptoms”.
“The two positive cases are different since one of them is symptomatic and the other is not. However, we have to be sensible and careful in managing these cases,” Mola said.
The first case was detected on Tuesday and all the week’s training sessions have since been cancelled.
“The entire professional squad has been placed in isolation,” the club tweeted.
That will continue “until next Wednesday, in accordance with the date of our first proven positive case”, said Toulouse manager Jerome Cazalbou.
Another match in the weekend’s round of the Top 14, between Bayonne and Agen, had already been postponed after a Covid-19 outbreak at last-place Agen, who played Toulouse last Saturday.
The match between the Stade Francais and Castres was shifted from 13.45 (GMT) to 20.05 (GMT) to fill the slot opened by the postponement of the Toulouse game.
