Cros, 29, suffered the setback during preparation for the game at Murrayfield on August 5 with the World Cup starting on September 8 in Paris when hosts France play New Zealand.

“It’s a little strain in the groin,” Giroud told reporters.

“He’ll be out for a few weeks, it’s not something long-term but we have to treat it.”

Cros missed training on Thursday alongside lock Paul Willemse, who was rested due to a long-term hamstring problem.

Les Bleus then welcome Scotland to Saint Etienne a week later before facing Fiji in Nantes on August 19 and Australia in Paris eight days later.

As well as playing the All Blacks, France will also come up against Uruguay, Namibia and Italy in Pool A of the World Cup.
