Injury blow for Montpellier

NEWS: Montpellier’s international fullback Anthony Bouthier has been ruled out for around six weeks after badly twisting knee ligaments.

Bouthier, capped six times by France, sustained the left knee injury in training with Les Bleus on Wednesday ahead of what should have been a match against Fiji on Sunday – that has since been called off because of COVID-19 cases among the Fijian squad.

The injury means Bouthier will miss Montpellier’s next six games, in the Top 14 and European competition.

Montpellier are currently 10th in the Top 14, although they have only played five out of a possible eight matches.

They face an away match at Bayonne on Saturday in the ninth round of domestic action.
