Liebenberg retires
Former French international centre Brian Liebenberg has announced his retirement, after Stade Français refused to renew his contract.
The 32-year-old South Africa-born back – capped 12 times by his adopted country between 2003 and 2005 – said he would take a coaching course and also set up a travel agency dedicated to South Africa.
“My career as a player is over,” he told website rugbyunit.com.
“Because of a succession of injuries I wasn’t fit to play on. My contract therefore came to an end on November 11.”
Liebenberg, who was part of the France squad that reached the 2003 World Cup semifinals, won three French titles with Stade Français – in 2003, 2004 and 2007.
