Three Top 14 games put back due to Covid cases
NEWS: Three French Top 14 matches at the weekend were postponed following Covid-19 positives at Bordeaux-Begles, Brive and Castres, the league announced on Tuesday.
The game between Bordeaux-Begles and Montpellier, which was scheduled to open the weekend’s games on Friday, has been put back to Sunday with no kick-off time announced.
“A report on the situation will be made at the end of the day on Thursday following further tests on the Union Bordeaux-Begles squad,” the league said in a statement.
The matches between Brive and La Rochelle and Bayonne and Castres, scheduled for Saturday have been put back to a later date.
The Top 14 had to postpone four matches last weekend because of Covid-19 cases.
With two matches now postponed, Brive are the club with the most to catch up.
Their clash with Clermont, scheduled for last week, was postponed because of six infections in their squad.
Brive reported eight new infections on Tuesday.
Bayonne and Castres are now due to meet on Thursday, April 29. Last weekend’s scheduled derby between Racing 92 and Stade Francais and a game between Clermont and Brive have been rescheduled for Saturday, May 1.
But Bordeaux-Begles, La Rochelle and Montpellier are involved in European semifinals that weekend.
