Top14 club shut door on France star

NEWS: France international fullback Djibril Camara has been put on sick leave until the end of the season, Bayonne announced on Tuesday, effectively ending his association with the Top 14 club.

“We tried to support him as well as possible in his physical problems,” said club president Philippe Tayeb, without going further in the explanations.

The 31-year-old, who played four times for France, joined Bayonne in 2019 after a contentious departure from Stade Francais which remains at the centre of a one-million-euro breach of contract claim by Camara.

He signed a two-year deal with Bayonne but has made just 12 Top 14 appearances, including two this season, while battling osteoarthritis in his knees.
