Trimble sticking with Ulster
Ireland's player of 2014 Andrew Trimble signed a new two-year contract with his province Ulster on Tuesday.
The 30-year-old Ulster star – who has been capped 57 times and scored 16 tries since making his debut in November 2005 – will be tied to Ulster till June 2017.
Trimble, who has played no part in Ireland's three wins from three matches in this Six Nations because of a toe injury, said he was delighted with the new contract and hoped he would be able to return to the international stage heading towards the World Cup.
"I hope to be back playing soon and will be aiming to put myself in the frame for selection for Ulster and Ireland over the coming months," said Trimble.
"2015 will be an exciting year at both provincial and national level and I hope to play a role in the coming years in the continuing success of Irish rugby."
Trimble was named player of the year after starring in Ireland's Six Nations triumph and for his contribution in Ulster reaching last season's Pro12 semifinal.
"Andrew is a model professional who sets a great example for all young aspiring rugby players," said IRFU Performance Director David Nucifora.
"His performances for Ireland and Ulster last season were top rate and he continues to develop his game after almost 10 years as a professional in Ireland."
