Esposito, originally part of the 31-man squad named by coach Jacques Brunel last week, suffered the injury in Italy's record 7-48 defeat to Scotland last weekend.

The Italians have been drawn in a tough Pool D with France, Six Nations champions Ireland, Canada and Romania for the tournament which is being hosted by England and runs from September 18 to October 31.
