Azzurri playmaker struck down

Italy flyhalf Kelly Haimona is set for a spell on the sidelines after fracturing his right forearm early in the 61-20 Six Nations defeat to Wales.

Haimona returned to the starting line-up after being dropped from Italy's matchday squad of 23 players for last week's 29-0 rout by France.

But after hitting a first-minute penalty for the hosts, the New Zealand-born player lasted barely 10 minutes, being replaced by Luciano Orquera after coming off with a brace on his right arm.

Italy team manager Luigi Troiani later confirmed: "Haimona has suffered a clean break of the radius bone on his right forearm. He will undergo an operation in the coming days."
