An American reacts to the biggest World Cup upset ever

Look away Springbok fans as those old scabs of the 2015 World Cup match against Japan is torn open thanks to Dan Stuart who watches the highlights for the first time and reacts to that dramatic match.

It was a match that launched Japan’s transition from being a minnow to a serious international contender after slaying the Springbok giant, thanks to a last-gasp Karne Hesketh.

The result could possibly have been the lowest point of Heyneke Meyer’s coaching tenure and immediately apologised for the team’s dismal performance.

“I have to apologise to the nation. It was just not good enough. It was unacceptable and I take full responsibility,” Meyer said in the post-match press conference.
