Another South African exiting Gloucester
NEWS: Gloucester will reportedly be losing another South African.
According to reports, Springbok lock and World Cup winner Franco Mostert will be leaving the English club to join Japanese club Honda Heat.
This latest news comes after Gloucester lost the services of head coach Johan Ackermann, who will join Japanese club NTT DoCoMo Red Hurricanes in July.
Losing Mostert will be a massive blow for Gloucester. The 29-year-old forward is a hardworking player who provided valuable impact off the bench during the Springboks’ World Cup-winning run in 2019.
While he is known for being a lock, Mostert can also cover the back row, which makes him a versatile player in the pack.

Mostert began his career with the Blue Bulls in Pretoria, before switching to Johannesburg with the Lions, making over 50 appearances for the Ellis Park team to date, including captaining the team for much of his final Super Rugby campaign with the franchise.
He has 39 Test caps for his country after making his Test debut against Ireland in Johannesburg in 2016.
Mostert also represented the Ricoh Black Rams in the Japanese Top League, before he returned to Super Rugby with the Lions.
The lock made 25 appearances for Gloucester over the last two years.
