Bok hooker decides his playing future after success in Japan
SPOTLIGHT: Springbok hooker Malcolm Marx has extended his stay with his Japanese club.
The news comes after the 28-year-old helped the Spears win the Japan League One title on Saturday with a 17-15 success over the Wild Knights.
The Spears revealed that Marx and Australian flyhalf Bernard Foley signed contract extensions until May 2025.
It means Marx will not be returning to South Africa after this year’s World Cup as some rumours suggested.
The Bok first represented the Shining Arcs when he headed to Japan in 2020.
He later joined the Spears, becoming an integral part of the squad.
Saturday’s result means it was a first top-tier national title for Marx, who had gone agonisingly close in Super Rugby, losing in the Final on three occasions while playing for the Johannesburg-based Lions.
