Combrinck's Bok dream shattered ... again
The 27-year-old, who made a series-saving debut for the Boks against Ireland last year, is to undergo shoulder surgery.
It is reported from Japan that the utility back – he is equally at home on the wing and at fullback – injured his shoulder while playing for the Kintetsu Liners in the Japan Top League.
Combrinck is set to return to South Africa for surgery.
The injury means Combrinck will not be available for the Springboks' end-of-year tour and also won't be able to play for the Barbarians as expected.
He was one of the surprise omissions from the Springboks' Rugby Championship squad.
Bok coach Allister Coetzee suggested the powerful flyer required more game time to 'get fit'.
Combrinck had a couple of impressive cameos for the Liners.
The video above features an outrageous show and go that epitomises his skill and match-winning ability.
