CONFIRMED: Bok centre signs for Japanese club
TRANSFER NEWS: Another star player will leave the Bulls at the end of the season.
Japanese club Canon Eagles confirmed the signing of Springbok centre Jesse Kriel from the Pretoria-based side.
Stormers utility back SP Marais will also be joining Kriel at the club.
“I’m very excited to have an experienced Springbok like Kriel at the Canon Eagles,” said head coach Allister Coetzee,
“He brings a very high level of contribution on and off the field.
“Marais is a utility outside back and is an excellent left-footed kicker. He is extremely skilful and will add value to the Eagles.”
Meanwhile, Kriel told International Player Management: “I am extremely excited and privileged to be joining Canon Eagles. I have played in Japan before and it was an amazing experience. I am very excited to be returning to the Top League.
“I hope to make many more great memories on and off the field in Japan. I am very grateful to the Bulls and Springboks for their continued support and backing.”
Kriel is not the only big name to leave the Bulls after this season.
Handre Pollard will join French club Montpellier. The Bulls will also lose locks Lodewyk de Jager (Sale Sharks), RG Snyman (Honda Heat) and Jason Jenkins (Canon Eagles).
