SBW quiet in Japanese debut

All Black ace Sonny Bill Williams made a quiet debut for Japanese club the Wild Knights on Sunday.

Williams, who played the full 80 minutes, was unable to cross the whitewash as the Wild Knights succumbed 25-22 to the Shining Arcs.

Williams created a try with a trademark offload but had another intercepted, which resulted in the decisive try.

The 27-year-old is reported to be earning $1.2 million for his 12-game deal in Japan, where after he will return to Rugby League.

"Even though we had a loss it was good to see the big uso," Williams tweeted after the match, referring to Samoan wing Alesana Tuilagi, who has joined the Shining Arcs on a short-term deal.

Tuilagi scored the second of the Shining Arcs’ three second-half tries in a man of the match performance.
