All Black veteran Whitelock remains a doubt for Bok test

INJURY UPDATE: All Blacks will be out to field the most competitive side when they take on the Springboks in the Rugby Championship Round Two match on Saturday.

At the back of a 41-12 win over Argentina, New Zealand hosts the Springboks in what’s deemed the title decider in Auckland.

The All Blacks received a timely boost ahead of the encounter.

According to Reuters, wings Will Jordan and Mark Telea have been cleared for selection for the Round Two showdown.

The Crusaders back Jordan has recovered from a migraine and the Blues star Telea from a knee strain and will provide the All Blacks with lethal attacking options.

“They’ve both been playing some great Super Rugby,” All Blacks forwards coach Jason Ryan told New Zealand media of Jordan and Telea.

“It’s their chance. They’re selectable this week. What we saw in Argentina was other guys stood up right across the park.

“That’s exactly what we wanted – to build some selection depth and confidence for anyone who gets their opportunity.”

However, the major concern for the All Blacks is the absence of veteran Sam Whitelock.

The 34-year-old missed the All Blacks’ Rugby Championship opener due to an achilles injury and is still a major doubt for this weekend’s Test.

Ryan revealed the lock is progressing well but would not go as far as to clear him to face the Springboks.

Meanwhile, prop Fletcher Newell is out with a broken hand which he sustained during the training.

Newell is expected to be sidelined for three weeks.
