Cruden racing to full fitness

Aaron Cruden will soon find out how close he is to returning to the field after a pectoral injury caused him to miss the victory over Argentina.

The All Black incumbent flyhalf has said he is recovering well and feels that should he be fit he will be ready to give it his all against the Springboks on Saturday.

"They'll [the team doctor and physios] be really clear in the plan that they want me to go through this week," Cruden said looking ahead to the clash with the Springboks.

"If I do pass whatever test that is needed, I'm 100 percent confident in my ability to go out there and do a job in the weekend."

"The pecs are feeling good," he added.

"They responded really well to treatment last week. I'm doing a little bit of rehab, so we'll make a decision in coming days."

Should Cruden be fit again, it will offer All Black coach Steve Hansen a difficult question at flyhalf after deputy Beauden Barrett impressed in his starting role at the weekend.

Cruden is well aware of the threat the Springboks pose, both as a challenge to their game and bodies.

"The Springboks are big men right across the field," says Cruden.

"We're usually pretty sore afterwards."

The All Blacks know a win in Wellington will go a long way towards wrapping up a third consecutive Rugby Championship.
