Fans call out Barrett's sportsmanship
REACTION: Not all was happy with Beauden Barrett’s performance during his 100th Test for the All Blacks.
The New Zealand flyhalf scored two tries to help his team record a 54-16 win over Wales on Saturday.
However, it was his attempted intercept in the first half that has caused a social media stir.
The 30-year-old tried to intercept a pass, but was nowhere near catching the ball and in the end prevented Wales of scoring try.
After review from the TMO, the referees decided on just a penalty, which left fans fuming.
One Twitter user wrote: “I don’t normally talk about sport, but if the Rugby Championship can have a slew of yellow cards for knocking the ball out of play earlier this year, they should have given a yellow card to Beauden Barrett.”

@Gareth_Anscombe – you don’t play for New Zealand any more throwing that intercept robotically! #ringrusty

Okay so Beauden Barrett is immune to yellow cards #WalvNZ

One handed attempt to catch the ball. Anyone anywhere else would’ve been carded for that. Think there was cover to make the tackle but brutal decision/mistake.

I agree, regardless there was a defender coming across, the one handed knock-down is cynical. All he was thinking was stop a try.
