Premiership club set sights on All Black
TRANSFER FOCUS: Former All Black centre Malakai Fekitoa is rumoured to be heading to the Premiership side Wasps.
According to reports, 26-year-old Fekitoa will leave French Top14 giants Toulon and joined former Highlanders teammate Lima Sopoaga at Wasps.
The Times reported that the move will be confirmed in the coming days.
Fekitao’s move to England would nullify any chances of him returning to New Zealand to make the All Blacks squad.
Last year the 26-year-old expressed his desire to one day wear the Black jersey again following the conclusion of his Toulon deal.
However, it seems that the former Highlanders centre has opted to ply his trade in the Northern Hemisphere.
Fekitoa left New Zealand after the British & Irish Lions tour to join Toulon for the 2017-18 season.
Fekitao’s deal would surely be welcomed by Wasps especially after the club’s recent exodus which includes Springboks Willie Le Roux, England No.8 Nathan Hughes and England back Elliot Daly.
Wasps have confirmed that Hughes and Le Roux will not return, while no announcement has yet been made on Daly.
