SOLD OUT Test tickets leave fans red in the face
NEWS: Tickets for the Rugby Championship Test between the Springboks and All Blacks at the Cape Town Stadium on September 7 are sold out, but the process has left many supporters frustrated and furious.
On Thursday morning at 10.00 (SA time) the Stormers announced on social media that all tickets had been sold out.
And in the press release linked to the post, they stated that the process was ‘fair and orderly’.
Fans could register an interest to buy tickets as of Monday, May 27.
The Stormers used Ticketmaster with somewhat of a complicated process whereby one had to register to show interest.
This was meant to “ensure an equitable outcome and reduce the number of secondary resales, ticket fraud, and illegally counterfeited tickets, fans randomly drawn through the ticket ballot process were invited to purchase tickets through a secure, dedicated link via Ticketmaster”.
According to the Stormers, this was deemed “the fairest way” of giving people a chance to purchase tickets.
‘The system also reduces the number of frustrated customers stuck in the queue for what is a high-demand event, with over 170,000 people registering their interest in buying up to four tickets each for an event that will have a capacity of 58,417 spectators.’
Some furious fans reacted to the announcement on X, many claiming it was their worst experience of purchasing tickets ever.
Tickets for the Test between the Springboks and All Blacks at DHL Stadium sold out on Wednesday after a fair and orderly process which saw over 170 000 people register their interest for an event with a capacity of 58 417 spectators.

Horse manure – The process was not fair and not orderly. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had purchasing tickets to see the @Springboks

The process was never fair! You chose who you wanted to attend this game unlike how other franchises do, first come first serve! You’re so UNFAIR!
