Stormers boss sheds light on brutal injuries after All Blacks clash
INJURY UPDATE: The Stormers are counting the cost of their brave performance against the All Blacks in Friday’s Greatest Rivalry series opener.
The Capetonians went down 21-38 at DHL Stadium, and they ended the match without a recognised scrumhalf on the field.
Imad Khan hobbled off the field after three minutes, and his 38-year-old replacement, Dewaldt Duvenage, had his final game for the franchise cut short in the second half.
Khan was later seen with crutches.
“Imad’s got a reasonably serious knee injury, and Dewaldt suffered a broken arm,” said John Dobson.

The Director of Rugby also revealed that Ruhan Nel suffered a calf injury, while Deon Fourie left the field after 61 minutes.
“Brannas [Fourie] isn’t serious,” Dobson added.
“It’s funny because the ref was getting irritated because we kept changing captains, but what were we meant to do? They all got injured.
“The two serious ones are unfortunately the scrumhalves. Dewaldt is not a big loss to the future, but I felt for him in his last game, and he did bloody well for a 40-year-old.”
Dobson is still confident that he has enough depth at scrumhalf heading into the United Rugby Championship, which starts in September.
“We’ve got two great ones in the Currie Cup in Stefan Ungerer and Ezekiel Ngobeni, and if we have to look, then we have to look.
“You don’t count on two to go down in one game, and at some stage Cobus Reinach will come back.”
