VIDEO: Pieter-Steph du Toit is becoming the ultimate utility forward for the Springboks as he moved between three positions against the All Blacks at Ellis Park on Saturday.

The Bok lock started as the number four lock but later also covered the flank and five lock during the game as Ruan Nortje and Ben-Jason Dixon left the field.

But the trustworthy Du Toit comfortably moved between the different positions with aplomb which earned him the Man of the Match award.

This man continues to show why is the best player in the world with another brilliant performance.

He had to switch between the second row and the back row and was utilized as the main line-out jumper.

He managed to put huge pressure on the All Blacks, had a line-out steal, and was solid in defence completing 11 tackles.

Asked what position he would like to play next, the likable Du Toit said he might try out wing next with tongue in cheek.

“I think next time I have to play wing, I can rest a bit more,” a smiling Du Toit said after the game.

“It was challenging in the line-outs, all three positions are different positions in the line-outs.

“This week I could make sure I was well-prepared but to play against them where they put you under pressure in the air was very difficult,” the Bok lock explained.

“I will play in any position for this team. They asked me to do it and I am more than happy and capable of doing it.”

The big friendly Springbok credited his high school athletics teacher for his running skills which helped him switch between lock and flank with so much ease.

“I still believe to today, that when I was in primary school I trained a lot in athletics.

“I actually saw the teacher a few months ago and I have a lot of respect for her in the way she helped me to develop my running style and get me ready for the role I have to play today.

“Elmarie at Laerskool Swartland – she helped me a lot and me and my wife actually trained with her and a lot of friends as well.

“I just believe she played a massive role in helping me where I am today,” he said.

Talking about the challenge the All Blacks posed and how the Springboks managed to come back from behind to secure a win, Du Toit said the senior players in the squad brought the goods, referring to the Bomb Squad that came on.

“I think we did well in the line-outs as well.

“You’ve got to make sure you are fit and all credit to the conditioning staff.

“We’ve got a job to do, and we get paid to do this and guys pay a lot of money to see us do this and we’ve got to represent them and make sure they get value for their money.

“To play against one of the best in the world, you have to be at your best.

“I think the senior players in the team help a lot with the pressure points, so everyone has a point to focus on.

“I think it had a big impact on how we controlled the game.”
