Amoa the new Samoa CEO
New Zealand-based lawyer Fred Amoa has been appointed chief executive of the Samoa Rugby Union, taking over from Peter Schuster who held the role since 2007.
Amoa was chosen from a field of eight candidates including three women. He is Samoan-born and New Zealand-educated, completing a law degree at Auckland University.
Amoa has served as head of the Department of Justice and Border Control of Nauru and is a Master of International Maritime Law.
During last year’s World Cup, Samoa’s players complained to the Prime Minister that the social activites of Schuster and other officials had affected the team’s match preparations.
