Samoan testicle grabber cited
Samoan fullback James So'oialo has been cited for his attack on South African hooker Adriaan Strauss in the Final of the four-nation tournament on Saturday.
So'oialo, who was lucky not to have been red-carded for grabbing the Bok hooker, Strauss, by the testicles, was cited under Law 10.4 (m): "Committing an act contrary to good sportsmanship."
The incident was referred to the TMO by French referee Pascal Gauzère. Despite the TMO reporting to the referee that So'oialo had grabbed an opponent in an 'indecent manner', the referee opted to only award a penalty.
The incident, which occurred in the 12th minute of the second half, was referred to judicial officer Jeff Blackett, by citing commissioner Peter Larter – both of the English Rugby Football Union.
So'oialo will appear at a judicial hearing in Johannesburg on Sunday, June 23.
* Meanwhile Samoan wing Alesana Tuilagi will appear before a disciplinary hearing, following his sending off in the same match for a dangerous tackle on Springbok captain Jean de Villiers.
Alesana Tuilagi was red-carded in the 58th minute for his cheap shot on De Villiers – a late high coathanger that flattened the Bok captain way off the ball.
That hearing is scheduled to take place at the same venue.
