Humphrey to take Scotland forwards

The Scotland rugby Union has announced that Ospreys forwards coach Jonathan Humphreys will take over as the new forwards coach for the Scottish national side.

He will take up his role within the Scotland set-up at the end of the Osprey's season.

Humphreys said: "I'm very excited by the challenge of working with the Scotland players and management and building on the very solid foundations that are in place.

"I know Scott [Johnson] well from our time together at the Ospreys and it will be great to renew acquaintance with a man who has such a sharp rugby brain," he added.

The former hooker won himself 35 caps for Wales which spanned just under ten years from 1995-2003.

During his tenure with the Swansea based club, Ospreys have enjoyed most Celtic League successes having won the Pro12 (or its previous incarnations) on three occasions. The club have also won the EDF Cup during his time there.

Scottish Rugby’s Chief Executive Mark Dodson said: "Jonathan [Humphreys] impresses us.  He’s a very astute coach and when you look at the players he has nurtured to the very highest levels of the game then clearly he has much to offer."

Scotland's next task is a four nation tournament against South Africa, Samoa and Italy in June.
