Siya Kolisi reveals the other side of Owen Farrell
England flyhalf Owen Farrell received a major endorsement from double World Cup-winning captain Siya Kolisi.
The Springbok captain revealed he really wants Owen Farrell to join Racing 92 amidst rumours.
Earlier this month, the French newspaper Midi Olympique reported that Farrell, who has played all of his professional club rugby with Saracens, is on the verge of penning a deal with Racing 92.
The 32-year-old Farrell has already ruled himself out of the Six Nations for personal reasons, but a move across to France would make the flyhalf ineligible for national duty.
According to reports, Farrell will sign a two-year deal in Paris – a move that would see him join Kolisi and England wing Henry Arundell at the Top 14 club.
Farrell and Kolisi captained their respective countries in the 2019 World Cup final in Japan, and the pair went head-to-head once again in the semifinals of last year’s event in France.
But despite the two stars’ incredible rivalry on the field, Kolisi has nothing but praise and admiration for Farrell, describing the flyhalf as a “ competitive” athlete.
“I hope he comes. I hope he does,” Kolisi told Jim Hamilton on The Big Jim Show when asked about Farrell’s transfer rumours to Racing 92.
“I love Owen, I really like him. I speak to him every now and then.
“I don’t understand why people don’t like him, I just think he is competitive which is what you want.”
Kolisi added: “It would be good for us, it would be great for us if he could come.
“He is a really good leader, I think he’s very competitive and just misunderstood.”
