According to The Times, Munster's Head of Athletic Performance Aled Walters is set to take up a position with the Springboks in March or April.

On Tuesday Munster confirmed that Walters will leave the Irish Province in March.

He will follow in the footsteps of Erasmus (SA Rugby's Director of Rugby) and Jacques Nienaber (defence coach) who have both left Munster to take up positions in South Africa to help turn the Boks' fortunes around after poor performances in the last few seasons.

Walters joined Munster ahead of the 2012/2013 season as strength and rehab coach.

He has previously worked with the Brumbies in Super Rugby and Taranaki in New Zealand.

Former Springbok forwards coach Johann van Graan took over from Erasmus at Munster at the beginning of December.
