Boland coach fakes qualifications
Boland head coach Abe Davids has been suspended with immediate effect after he failed to bring forward his coaching qualifications to the board of Directors.
The board of Directors have issued the suspension pending the outcome of a disciplinary investigation into his alleged coaching qualification.
Davids, who is the brother of Boland president Francois, was appointed as Cavaliers head coach in September last year.
He replaced Eugene Eloff as the team's mentor after South African Under-20 coach Dawie Theron assisted in the assessment of the 17 candidates, who were whittled down to a five-man shortlist, from which Abe Davids was selected.
At the time Davids was appointed, Boland released a stement at the time that alluded to his falsified qualifications stating: "He has 37 years of coaching experience at various levels of coaching in the Boland and is the only coach in the region with an IRB level three qualification.
Davids was given the opportunity to provide proof of the qualification, which he relied on when he was appointed as Head Coach of the Cavaliers.
To date the evidence has not been presented and inquiries to the IRB and SARU have confirmed that he did not have the IRB Level 3 coaching qualification at that stage.
The disciplinary process will be completed as soon as possible.
