Divvy jumps the border?
Rumours have been circulating that former Springbok coach Peter de Villiers may be in line as Technical Director at the Zimbabwe Rugby Union.
De Villiers headlines a list of illustrious rugby personalities who are in line take over the vacant post.
The post became vacant after Liam Middleton resigned at the end of last month to take up the job of head coach of the Canada Sevens side ahead of the start of the 2014/15 World Series.
Middleton’s departure has seen several top rated rugby personalities positioning themselves to take over the highest coaching job in Zimbabwe rugby.
According to the Daily News in Zimbabwe De Villiers expressed his interest in the position.
However when talking to rugby365, the former Springbok coach was unaware that the position even existed.
"They are just rumours," De Villiers told rugby365.
He added: "What is the position, is it a coaching role?" clearly showing he was unaware of such a position.
De Villiers coached South Africa between 2008 and 2011.
The 57-year-old is the current Director of Rugby at the University of the Western Cape.
Apart from de Villiers, former Sharks Academy director Hans Scriba has also applied for the vacant post, again according to the Daily News.
Scriba was managing director of Sharks Academy from 2001 to 2013 in a period where his administration churned out a host of top rugby stars including Zimbabwe-born Springbok prop Tendai Mtawarira.
Previously, Scriba was KwaZulu-Natal Rugby Union development manager from 1992 to 2000.
