Netwerk24 reports that the former Bok hooker, Drotské, is in a critical condition in hospital.

Drotské, who was shot three times during an attempted robbery at his brother Tinus’ smallholding in Kameeldrift, outside of Pretoria, was rushed back to hospital at 23.00 on Tuesday.

Despite being released from hospital last Friday – following the incident on November 29 – Drotské suffered complications.

After undergoing surgery for his gunshot wounds, Drotské seemed to be recovering well.

On December 2, his wife Marzanne said he was “100 percent, apart from low blood pressure”.

However, the 47-year-old was checked into the Bloemfontein Mediclinic at on Tuesday after feeling confused.

Blood tests showed he was suffering from internal bleeding.

Hospital spokesperson Barbara Steenkamp told Netwerk24: “He had massive intestinal bleeding that led to hypovolemic shock.

“He is getting blood now. He has acute respiratory distress syndrome with a lung infection for which he is being sedated and ventilated. Various organs have been affected.”
