The 26-year-old Botham who plies his trade at Cardiff will join the squad on Monday, taking the total number of players to 38.

Botham, the grandson of cricket legend Ian Botham, provides cover for all three positions across the back row.

The loose forward made his international debut in 2020 and has earned 10 caps.

Wales face South Africa in an away fixture at Twickenham Stadium on June 22 before heading for Australia on June 26 to play two Test matches against the Wallabies and a fixture against the Queensland Reds.

An updated squad of 34 players who will travel to Australia will be confirmed following the Springboks encounter.
