Lambie given all clear
Patrick Lambie is likely to follow the Jean de Villiers route back to Springbok selection after a lengthy lay-off.
Lambie has been given the all-clear by the Sharks medical staff, after missing almost the entire Super Rugby season with a neck injury.
That means his first opportunity to play – since April – will be for South Africa against a World XV at Newlands next week.
That is the same match in which Bok captain Jean de Villiers is expected to make his comeback from surgery – following the horrific knee-injury that he suffered against Wales in November last year
It is expected both Lambie and De Villiers will make cameo appearances off the bench.
Bok coach Heyneke Meyer will name his squad for the encounter with the World XV on Saturday.
Lambie visited a specialist on Thursday and the Sharks confirmed that the 24-year-old was fit to play.
Lambie has played 40 Tests for the Springboks since making his debut in 2010.
