SA coach banned and ordered to do community service
UPDATE: South African coach Gerhard ‘Pote’ Human learned his fate after a fight with a rival coach in the USA last weekend.
Human, who is the coach of the Houston SaberCats, was believed to be incensed by New York’s Head of High-Performance coach Ollie Richardson taunting Houston’s players during a water break in a Major League Rugby clash (MLR).
The altercation instigated a massive brawl with both Human and Ricardson being ejected from the game.
The real reason for the outburst has yet to be confirmed.
MLR have confirmed that both coaches have been given a six-week ban and have been ordered to pay a “fine donated to a charity of MLR’s choosing”.
On top of that, both coaches have been ordered to do community service.
They will only be allowed to resume matchday activities on June 18.
According to the MRL’s disciplinary update, the offence committed by both coaches was a “League Policy Violation”.
The Houston SaberCats won the match 34-27.
