The Griquas have been extremely busy during the off-season and their latest signing will certainly bolster the side’s pack.

Lock Ian Groenewald and former Bulls tighthead prop John-Roy Jenkinson will both join the club on two-year contracts, respectively.

Groenewald, who was a Maties player for three seasons and also represented the Western Province team during his time at Stellenbosch, will join the Griquas in May.

Following his time at WP the lock moved on to represent Toulon in a short stint as a medical joker.

While Jenkinson has just returned from a stint in Japan with Sanix Blues and will be joining Griquas from March.

Jenkinson also previously represented the SA u20 team, Maties and Pukke in the Varsity Cup and the Cheetahs.

“With a large amount of our players not currently with us in order to prepare for the fast approaching season, we really look forward to welcoming the new signings as well as the current Griquas players who are on loan with other teams so that we can commence their integration into our program and prepare optimally.

“This brings much needed depth and also creates healthy competition for places. We still have some positions that we are working on and time will tell if we have been successful or not in obtaining the services of those players.” said the Griquas Coach, Brent Janse van Rensburg.
