There have been plenty of discussions and reactions since Sam Warburton labelled Ireland as the world’s best team after a strong start to the Six Nations tournament last month.

However, after clinching another title with a win over Scotland last weekend, Ireland head coach Andy Farrell says that tag belongs to the Springboks as his team now prepares for a two-Test series in South Africa in July.

In conversion, with Boks Office host Hanyani Shimange and Springbok legend Schalk Burger, Fleck says Farrell’s comments seem genuine.

“I’m not only a fan of the way Ireland plays, but I am a fan of Farrell,” said Fleck. “Just his brutal honesty and what you see is what you get.

“The way he deals with the media, I don’t think he is going to say something that he doesn’t necessarily believe in.”

Shimange responded by saying: “You don’t think this is gamesmanship?”

In his response, Fleck said: ” I think he is being dead honest. He is genuinely saying South Africa is the best. He is saying: ‘That is where we want to go to and beat them in their backyard’.

“He is almost stepping up to this challenge and saying, ‘I am going to go head-on with the Springboks and I am not going to play games behind the scenes’.

“I have met him once or twice and he comes across as a genuine guy and he is good at what he does.

“He likes a real challenge and he is fronting up to that.”
